One Of The Most Greatest Performances
by John Somogyi
Well I should state that I just saw Lee Aaron in Victoria, BC, Canada (one of the best places to live according to the UN poll) at the Legends Bar (formerly the Forge) on Dec. 8, 1998. And I can tell you it was one of the most greatest performances I have seen in a while. It had been a while since I had seen her perform in a live venue but tonight's experience was not to be missed (makes me wish I had a mini disc recorder). Lee opened up with "Nasty Boyz" and ended the show with an encore of "Metal Queen" and then her cover of the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen". It was great to hear some good rock 'n' roll here in Victoria (this place is sadly lacking in this department). Anyways, I also waited by the stage exit to get an autograph from her. Myself and a bunch of fans waited for nearly an hour before we got in and even then only a handful were permitted to come backstage (much to the dismay of several other fans who had to wait outside). I finally had the oppourtunity to meet Lee Aaron and see her. She autographed a poster as well as the CD cover of her Powerline album. In addition we talked for a bit. She will be performing at Whistler, BC in February of 1999 but it will be her jazz lineup. So to all her fans: keep on rockin'; she can belt out those tunes like you can never believe. One fucking amazing show. Hopefully she will perform again in this neck of the woods.
