Friday January 22nd The Grandstand, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
I just had to write to tell you about the Mississauga show at the Grandstand. I drove up from Buffalo and let me tell you, it was worth it. Lee Aaron performed a long set covering her entire career.
The new band includes a female keyboard player who added a lot to many of the tunes ("Powerline" - awesome). The stage itself was not filled with a lot of equipment, so Lee had a lot of room to move around. Lee (Karen) looked great strapping on a guitar and playing some rhythm parts. Her voice was strong and clear. Photographs were allowed during the first two songs only. After that, the security was very quick to seize cameras and film. After the show, I had the opportunity to meet up with her backstage. Although I have spoken to her on previous occasions, this time seemed different. She was very relaxed and personable. We spoke about the other shows I've seen and believe it or not, she took my hand and said "Thanks for coming to the show and please drive home safely."
If you get the chance to see this tour, DO IT! You won't be disappointed. By the way, she said the jazz thing was still happening (in fact, she played a quick jazz tune after making some great comments to the crowd) and that an album is in the works.
